Kinnitty Forest Walks

Kinnitty village in County Offaly, is set in the foothills of the Slieve Bloom Mountains on the R422 Mountmellick to Birr road. It is situated on the once strategic route across Offaly leading onto Munster. The old Munster Road). The present village grew up around Kinnity Castle which was built by the Bernard Family in 1811. It is an excellent hub for walking with access to the Slieve Bloom Way, Kinnitty Castle, Kinnitty Castle, Glenregan signed looped walking trails from the Kinnitty Forest trailhead on the R440. Also near the village are 2 Eco Walks. Knockbarron Wood and Glenafelly.

Walking Events

The Slieve Bloom Walking Club has a programme of organised walks every weekend of the year. All of these walks are led by an experienced and friendly walk leader who is very familiar with the mountains.

A panel of guides are also available if you are are looking for a personal leader who can tailor-make a walk to suit your party or group.
